2025: A Bumper Start for PerthDNI and Pit & Seat

This year, I’m working on something that’s been on my mind since day one of launching Pit & Seat a possible book or memoir titled “What Not to Do – But I Did It Anyway.”
It’s going to be a brutally honest, behind-the-scenes account of what really goes down when you launch a new product-based business. No fluff, no sugar-coating just real stories, lessons learned the hard way, and some valuable takeaways for anyone thinking about diving into the startup world. Expect breakdowns of our hits and misses, including things like our experience with NextSmartShip for logistics (spoiler, it wasn’t the smoothest move). If it saves one person from the same headache, it’ll be worth it.
With that in mind, here’s a snapshot of where things stand right now.
2025 has kicked off as a bumper year for Perth Developments & Investments, with Pit & Seat now well and truly up and running. Right now, we're in what I’d call the “make-or-break phase” the point where most new ventures either find their rhythm or fall over. Statistically, a lot of startups don’t make it through this stage. But we’re doing everything we can to be one of the ones that do make it.
One of the biggest moves we’ve made this year is a marketing restructure. We've recently ended our partnership with Word-of-Mouth Agency and are now handling all marketing in-house. This means faster decisions and more control over our creative direction; this is all crucial when every dollar and decision matters.
We’re also right in the middle of a warehouse relocation, moving over to Couriers & Freight in Sydney from NextSmartShip. The move is going to reduce our overheads and set us up for our New Zealand launch — where we’ll be selling the full Pit & Seat product range.
As for international expansion, we’re being smart and targeted. While we're not entering the US market with the full range we are planning to launch our four-handle Korean-style BBQ cooking pan in the US, where we believe it’ll fit perfectly as a versatile grilling accessory. It'll be available here in Australia and New Zealand too, either as a standalone item or bundled with our BBQ pits.
If you’ve ever thought about launching your own product, or you’re just curious about what really goes on behind the scenes, I think you’re going to enjoy the upcoming "What Not to Do – But I Did It Anyway" Book. It'll be real, raw, and hopefully helpful. Keep an eye out — it’s coming soon.
Thanks,
Jeff Kendall
